got to see some again last night (last night of our festival), not as good as the 4th and we didnt walk all the way to the park (we can see them from our balcony --but some of our trees are now too tall and bushy to see thru), so we just walked up the street a bit.

making homemade rolls for our meatball sandwiches today.

We heard some again last night, but didn't see them. Once the 4th is past I'm kinda fed up with fireworks. You had your couple of nights to do it. Now stop it.

Homemade rolls huh? That sounds good. When my wife makes meatball sandwiches we use premade bread. Those are good too.

they were good, made a few extra for lunches. I love to make bread, just wish I had a bigger kitchen so I could do it more often.

the nice thing about living close to where they put the festival on is being really close so that its easy and quick to walk to and from and can sometimes even see them from our balcony, not to mention knowing a few areas to see them that the non-locals dont know about!

Three inches of rain in about 3 or 4 hours overnight. Heard of a few downed power lines aound town on the scanner. When the storm first hit, a huge gust of wind cleared our end table, that was sitting in front of a window. A fan we had in another window blowing out, was almost stopped and reversed by the strong gusts coming in the window.

My wife likes to cook and make stuff like that as well. But we don't have the space. Maybe someday for her.

Wow, sounds like you guys really got hit hard. As far as I can tell we didn't get the storms they were predicting here. Guess they went south of us. Definitely sounds like it was a crazy storm.

have been a few good ones this week, sister said they had some 70+mph winds a few days ago. We had some rain, but not much to speak of--went thru pretty fast yesterday.

I am with your wife, pwnd, like to cook--but no place big enough do to so.

We might have had worse winds than I thought. Saw a fairly good size tree down. But that was it. Didn't see a bunch of branches or anything. So they might have cut it down. Who knows!

My wife will be super excited when we get a bigger kitchen.

beautiful day today--not too hot, not too windy (had a few good gusts though), not to sunny (had those painted looking clouds)....think there was a stray shower early (whilst I was in lalalla land) and then just nice and beautiful! Wouldnt mind a few dozen more of those for the rest of the summer (and I see that the southwest is getting some rain, they may have our extras as well).

had salmon for dinner (its good for you!), hubby picked the recipe and it turned out pretty dang good.

It was windy yesterday but today is shaping up nicely. Upper 70's, sunny, low wind. Sounds like a good day to me.

We ended up getting Monical's pizza. Delicious stuff and leftovers to boot!

yep, cant complain about the weather (for a major change)....not supposed to get hot again until the weekend and yes, more rain then as well, so I will just enjoy the next day or so and remember it when ...its 95 and raining.

no ideas for dinner tonight (really do need to get to the grocery store, the cupboards are getting bare as is the fridge)

We are supposed to get more rain this weekend. So it is supposed to still stay relatively cool. Crazy! Though at some point warmer weather would be nice...

I think I'm grilling chicken tonight. But I'm not 100% sure.

sad news, found out one of my favorite professors from college passed away last november (just got my college news magazine),

he was only 66 (less than 20 years older than I)...also found out the music director from when we were in college also passed away (hubbys favorite professor died a few years ago--he was about 80)....getting older really starts to hit home when you get that kind of news

Sorry to hear that cosy. I had a favorite college professor, and husband of a lady whom I worked closely with there, pass away from cancer while I was there. Definitely a very sad thing. I think he was only in his 50's and was very active.

yeah, I had one of my professors die while I was in college (he was the only one to give me time off when my dad died to finish assignments--NONE of the other teachers cared or did anything for me then) of cancer as well. Not sure what this one died of seeing as he was only 66, but I know he was not married and was a bit on the 'wild' side. (married men tend to live longer for some really strange reason

).

Got a card from one of the ladies I used to work with back in idaho--she just had her 80th birthday! Very happy to hear from her.

well at least the weather has been nice this week, nothing too hot or rainy.

And the cupboard is really bare now...and outside of some condiments so is the fridge

Cancer is a nasty thing. Takes people far too soon... My wife's grandmother is currently battling cancer. A couple months ago she decided to stop chemo so that she could enjoy the rest of her life (since chemo makes you feel sick and such). It will be very sad when she passes...

Weather was nice today. Now it has been raining off and on. o.O I'm okay with that except its going to be 91 tomorrow. So much for the cool weather...

Our cupboards are pretty bare here as well. Of course we are headed out of town tomorrow evening so there is that...

well we had take out for dinner last night, and I have gotten one of your favorite things yesterday as well---a sore throat

so left overs today and hope to get some sleep since I think I now have a virus (got the aches and sore throat and cough...and lost my voice too).

It should be fun. Going up for her moms birthday and such. Though we might have to go sewing machine shopping... She is excited. Me, not so much...

We had leftovers last night. Dunno if we will be around for dinner tonight or not, but if we are, leftovers again! Woo...

me too (thanks), havent been sleeping because of the coughing and my voice is still gone.

sewing machines, got mine a long time ago from a panty hose company (had 'points' so its what I got), and it has worked great for me, mine is a brother (hope that is still a good company).

Ick. That does not sound like fun. Since it is a few days later I'm hoping you are feeling better!

The weekend was fun, was a good time with her family. We did get a sewing machine on Monday. She is pretty excited to learn how to use it. Tuesday we took her grandma to lunch, so that was a lot of fun as well.

On Sunday I found out my grandma was in the hospital. She had a perforated colon which required surgery on Monday. Not such a fun thing to find out. We got home late afternoon/early evening yesterday and went and visited her. She is doing quite well and should be released from the hospital on Friday. Going back to visit her today. That was probably the only downside of the weekend was finding that out. I'm just glad she is okay.

sorry to hear that, hope it all goes well.

I am still not better, even went to the gp yesterday (now I have pink eye on top of the cold), havent been sleeping due to excessive coughing and there is nothing the doctor can give me (yeah go figure, but at least I got something for the eye).
